JP Man Faces Child Porn, Firearm Charges

Investigators executed a search warrant at the man's home on Elm Street Thursday night.

A Jamaica Plain man faces child pornography and firearm charges after an investigation revealed he was allegedly disseminating graphic and illegal images and videos via a peer-to-peer file sharing system.

Martin Kollar, 57, was arraigned Friday in West Roxbury District Court on charges of possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and improper storage of a large capacity firearm, according to a statement from Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley.

According to prosecutors, State Police assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force developed information that an unknown user of a peer-to-peer file-sharing program was distributing graphic video clips and images depicting child pornography. Troopers were able to connect with that user’s computer through the program and identified numerous files believed to contain explicit images of children, according to the statement.

Using an administrative subpoena, investigators were able to obtain the subscriber information linked to the computer hosting the child pornography.  That information led investigators to Kollar’s Elm Street apartment.

Thursday night, Boston Police and agents from the FBI and the Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant at Kollar’s residence, which recovered two desktop computers, a laptop, iPod and iPhone products, and several external storage devices.  Investigators also discovered CDs and an external hard drive that were found to contain images depicting child pornography, prosecutors said.
