JP Church Will Hold Services Sunday Despite Oil Spill

The basement at First Church in Jamaica Plain Unitarian Universalist is being cleaned up.

A historic JP church will be open for services on Sunday despite a large oil spill, a church employee said.

Emergency crews came to yesterday to deal with oil spilling from two tanks in the church's basement.

The church was evacuated, but is now back in use. No one was injured in the incident, the tanks have been removed and removal specialists are at work cleaning up the spill, the employee said.
