Jeep Crashes into Doyle's

The driver of the Jeep said he had to take emergency action to avoid being hit by another car. The Jeep took out a mailbox and bike rack before coming to a rest on the sidewalk.

The driver of a Jeep knocked over a mailbox and bike rack before crashing into the side of Doyle's on Friday afternoon.

The driver, who asked that his name not be used, said he was driving on Washington toward Egleston Square when a vehicle coming the other way cut him off as it tried to make a left turn onto Williams. The Jeep driver said he had to accelerate to avoid that collision and ran up onto the sidewalk and into the wall of the well-known Irish pub.

The man said he declined medical attention. The vehicle that cut him off fled, he said. He hypothesized the low sun might have interfered with that driver's vision, but that the other driver should have stopped.
