Jamaica Plain Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges

A grand jury returned the indictments Tuesday, making it a Superior Court case.

A grand jury has returned child pornography charges against a JP man, elevating his case from District Court to Superior Court.

Jose Guzman, 40, was arrested at his Jamaica Plain home in January by Mass. State Police.

“We allege that Mr. Guzman used a file sharing network to obtain child pornography, ultimately spreading the files for others to access and use,” Attorney General Martha Coakley said in a statement at the time.

Authorities searched Guzman's home and say they found "numerous images and videos of alleged child pornography."

Guzman was released on $2,500 bail back in January, but has been made to wear a GPS bracelet so police can monitor his location. He also is prohibited from contact with people under the age of 18 and isn't allowed to use a computer.

On Tuesday, a Suffolk County Grand Jury returned the following indictments against Guzman: Dissemination or Possession of Obscene Matter (two counts), Dissemination of Child Pornography (two counts), and Possession of Child Pornography.

The Attorney General's office would not release Guzman's exact address or general neighborhood within JP. Guzman does not appear on the state's database of Level 3 sex offenders, a searchable list of convicted offenders the state considers most likely to re-offend.

His Superior Court arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 24, according to the Attorney General's office.
