Four People Taken to the Hospital After Saturday Morning Fire

Two suffered burns and a firefighter experienced chest pain.

Three workers and a Boston firefighter were taken to the hospital after a fire in Jamaica Plain on Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to a call about an explosion in the basement of 109 Carolina Ave., shortly before 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The homeowner was having work done in the basement and workers were installing insulation, according to Boston Fire. 

The fire was in a crawl space and firefighters needed to cut floorboards to get at the fire. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire. 

Three workers were treated and taken to an area hospital. Two were treated for burns. One firefighter was also taken to a hospital for chest pains, according to Boston Fire. 

Fire investigators estimate $100,000 worth of damage.
