Former Coworker Stabs, Bites Man on Centre Street

A man told police a former coworker attacked him. He was stabbed in the abdomen and bitten on the right forearm. His injuries weren't life-threatening.

A fight between former coworkers left a man with a stab wound to his abdomen and bite marks on his right forearm.

Police were called to Gay Head and Centre streets at 12:04 p.m. on Tuesday for a reported stabbing, said Police Officer Nicole Grant. Transit Police told them a man had come running toward them on Centre. They'd thought the man had robbed someone.

But the victim said he'd been in a fight with a former coworker outside Edianis Market at 331 Centre St. Police said the man had a laceration on his abdomen and tooth marks on his right forearm.

Police quickly arrested a suspect. He told a different story — that the victim had attacked him outside the store.

The victim was taken to Brigham & Women's Hospital and treated for non life-threatening wounds.

Police arrested Elmer Aviles, 26, of Jamaica Plain. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

I am still waiting to find out what happened to the man who was stabbed in the Arboretum near the lilac trees--who did it. There has been no mention of this in the Patch or elsewhere.

I am scared to go there by myself or even with my dog--I want/need to find out if these two people knew each other, were they involved with gangs etc, etc. That is a section of the Arboretum that I love very much, but the idea of getting stabbed terrifies me. I hope the BPD tells us what they know.

Hi Vanessa, I understand your concern. We did do a follow-up report on the Arboretum incident. Turns out it wasn't a stabbing after all: http://jamaicaplain.patch.com/articles/police-there-was-no-stabbing-in-arboretum-on-monday
