Eliot Street Neighbors Discuss Recent Holdups

Two gunpoint robberies occurred in the Eliot Street area on consecutive nights in the past week.

Concerned neighbors held an emergency meeting Friday night to discuss a pair of gunpoint crimes in the area of Eliot Street.

Police from the E-13 Jamaica Plain station patrolled the area Friday night, and posted a flyer alerting neighbors to the incidents throughout the area.

A teacher at the Eliot School was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night, and a similar robbery took place on Holbrook Street near the entrance to the Eliot School yard Thursday night, according to a police report and an email obtained by Jamaica Plain Patch.

A suspect, a 6-foot-1-inch black male with a black knit cap, grey hooded sweatshirt, slight beard and blue jeans, used a handgun with a glock-type square barrel in the Wednesday incident, according to police. There is speculation among neighbors and police that the incidents involved the same suspect, but police have not confirmed this.

In the Wednesday incident, police say the suspect was in the school for about an hour making conversation with several people including the victim. As the victim was talking on his cell phone, the suspect drew the gun from his pants and said "give me what you got," according to a police report. The victim handed the suspect a wallet and the cell phone.
