On April 19, around 10:09 a.m., Boston Police met with the director of operations for the arboretum about a vehicle parked in an authorized access only parking lot, which the vehicle was not permitted to be in.

The vehicle was filled with assorted clothing items as it was being lived out of, according to a Boston Police report. All four windows were rolled down, which is when the police discovered the dog inside the vehicle. The vehicle was registered out of Attleboro, but had no affiliation with the property, said arboretum staff.

Officers patrolled the area in search of the owner of the vehicle, but could not find him or her. Thus an animal control officer came and took control of the dog, who appeared in good health, was very passive, friendly, and went easily with the officer.

The vehicle was not towed, but a note was left for the owner of the vehicle as to where the dog was being brought.
