Dog Bite Botches Parking Lot Pet Adoption

Dog owners from New York and Mainers who wanted to adopt the dog met halfway, at the Hi-Lo Foods parking lot. And then someone got bitten.

Dog owners from New York and would-be dog adopters from Maine decided to meet in the middle — Massachusetts.

Specifically, they chose the parking lot at in Hyde Square. The owners took the muzzle off "Scooby," an 18-month old male Lab/German Shepherd mix, and one of the would-be owners put her hand out in front of the dog. "Scooby" bit her on the left hand and finger, according to a police report.

The Mainers decided, according to the police report, that they couldn't take a dog that acted like that. The New Yorkers gave the Mainers $20 in gas money, which the Mainers said was not enough to get them back home to Bangor.
