Cabbie Threatened With Gun, Robbed

A man made off with $50 after telling a cab driver he would shoot him.

A cab driver was robbed after a passenger he picked up threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand over all of his money.

The victim told police he picked up a passenger at the corner of downtown Dec. 2 who told him to head to Jamaica Plain. The passenger had him park between two cares at 959 Parker St.

When the cab driver refused, the passenger said, "Open the partition, I have a gun, I want all your money or I'm going to blow your head off," according to a police report.

The cab driver gave the passenger $50, who got out and took off on Parker Street, the report says. The cab driver told police he never saw a gun.

Police canvassed the area but never found the suspect, who is described as a 5-foot 9-inch male with a full head of black hair, light stubbed beard and mustache, wearing beige zip up jacket and dark pants who spoke with a Spanish accent.

Another testimonial in favor of getting rid of partitions. It makes no sense at all to hamper normal cab operations with a partition pestering drivers and passengers, not to mention all of the injury and death in collisions from partitions, for 100% of the rides, in a failed attempt to foil an armed assailant. All the partition does is morph the formerly knife wielding assailant into a gun wielding assailant.
