Man Dead in Hyde Park Avenue Shooting

Police confirm the victim has died.

A shooting in the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain claimed the life of a man Friday night.

Police say they received a call at 6:28 p.m. for a person shot at 132 Hyde Park Ave. The victim was in serious, life-threatening condition, police initially said. As of 10 p.m. Friday they confirmed the man was dead.

Neighbors say that police have been called frequently to that address for disturbances.

A neighbor, who lives on a nearby street, Tweeted that the person had been shot in the head:

That was horrible. People crying in the street.

As of 10 p.m. Friday, police did not have anyone in custody as a suspect.

This is the first homicide in Jamaica Plain in more than six months. Kenny "Black" Soto was stabbed to death outside the in October 2011.
