My heart goes out to this family for this horrible tragedy. Why weren't these boys in school as Friday was a school day? Why weren't they supervised? Why was there a gun in the home "that no one knew about"? What kind of messages were these kids getting from their family about guns and violence? Regardless of how this 14 year old is dealt with, he has to live with the fact that he is responsible for killing his little brother. So sad but not surprising as guns are all over this city and parents are simply not doing their jobs. When my kids were younger they know I could search their room at any time if I felt a need to. I never violated their privacy but made it clear that they and their safety were my number one priority. Again so very sad for this family and that little boy. RIP.
