Bail Set at $50K for Teen Who Allegedly Shot Brother

State officials said they sought to remove the teen from his home prior to the incident.

The Mattapan teenager who allegedly accidentally shot and killed his 9-year-old brother on Friday was held on $50,000 bail Monday, according to Boston.com

The teen was arraigned in a private hearing in Dorchester Juvenile Court Monday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and illegal gun possession. After the hearing, officials revealed that in May, he was sent to a program in Norwood that focuses on helping adolescents who are struggling at home, and that state officials sought to remove the from his Mattapan home prior to Friday's shooting, according to Boston.com. 

The 9-year-old victim has been identified as Janmarco Pena, a fourth-grade student at the James W. Hennigan Elementary School  in Jamaica Plain.
