Arrests Made in Armed Robbery of Pizza Guy

An off-duty detective helped catch two men who allegedly held up a pizza delivery man on Williams Street.

A delivery man for a South Street pizza place was robbed of cash and pizza by two thugs on Williams Street, according to police.

A delivery man had been called to 155 Williams St., he told police after the incident.

The victim explained to the officers that he was approached in the lobby of the building by two males, one wearing a black ski mask, gray sweatshirt with a hoodie, blue jeans and carrying a knife. The second suspect was described as wearing a dark gray cap, navy baseball shirt and blue jeans.

The men ran away through a nearby field.

An off-duty detective, having heard the descriptions of the suspects, saw men matching those descriptions in the hallway at 435 Walnut Ave. The detective called in other officers, who arrested the men. The driver identified them as the ones who had robbed him.

Police arrested Franklin Baez and Jadiel Martinez, both 19 and living in JP, and charged them with armed robbery. Additionally, Martinez was charged with providing a false name to a police officer.

Police didn't disclose which pizza shop it was.
