2 From JP Arrested in Braintree Heroin Bust

Braintree police arrested two men from Jamaica Plain and a woman from Rockland after they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction at the intersection of Union and Ivory streets.

Police seized 28 bags of heroin, five bags of cocaine and nearly $2,000 in the bust, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

On Thursday afternoon, March 28, detectives stopped at a red light at the intersection saw the woman – Mallory T. Mathena, 24 – walk across Union Street and get into a car parked at the convience store at the intersection.

The vehicle stopped only a short distance up Grossman Drive after leaving the parking lot and Mathena got out and walked away. Mathena was stopped on foot and police found two bags of heroin on her, Jenkins said.

Meanwhile, in the vehicle, police found 26 bags of heroin and five bags of cocaine. Inside were Jonathan D. Martinez, 18, and Aneudis G. Rosario, 19, both of Jamaica Plain, Jenkins said, along with $140 in cash. Another $1,837 was found in Martinez's pockets.

Martinez and Rosario were charged with trafficking in heroin, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act. Mathena was charged with possession of heroin and conspiracy.
