First Friday Open Mic

TONIGHT!!! Jha D Williams and Dana D. Ruff are the featured performers tonight at First Baptist JP's monthly First Friday Open Mic.

Jha D is a spoken word artist and entertainment organizer from the Boston area. She is also the founder of the "if you Feel it, you can Speak it" Open Mic which is the only monthly open mic for the queer communities of color. She prides herself on being an unapologetic, dynamic queer woman of color blessed with ability to express herself.

Dana D. Ruff is the co-host of the "if you can Feel it, you can Speak it" Open Mic and the author of the book, "Staying on 94: Tales from a Misguided Soul." He is also a member of Writers' Block with Kimo Hill, Matt Ganem and Gia Flores. D. Ruff performs with an unspeakable passion in hopes that society will realize the flaws within its structures and start to demand real change for our future.

Every first friday of the month, First Baptist JP, in partnership with Jamaica Plain Christian Society, hosts a Youth Open Mic in order to create a safe place for youth creative expression. Admission is free for performers and those under the age of 25. Suggested donation is 10$ but no one will be turned away.
