'Boston's 5 Best Dive Bars' Includes Davis Square Favorite

In October, Thrillist compiled a list of "Boston's 5 best dive bars."

It included Davis Square's very own Sligo Pub.

There's been a lot of handwringing about the demise of dive bars. So many have closed. One of my favorites was Tim's Bar and Grille in the South End. It was known for its burgers until the kitchen, and eventually the whole place, shut down. The beer was cheap, and the jukebox played Motown. Never heard of it? That's kind of the point. The restaurant that's there now serves pork belly and rosé.
