Patch Volunteers At Animal Rescue League

By Sara Jacobi

Eight Patch editors from all the Boston Patch sites spent Tuesday afternoon volunteering at the Animal Rescue League of Boston in the South End.

Donning our Patch t-shirts, handing out flyers and walking three friendly dogs, we set out to get the word out to residents of the South End that the Animal Rescue League is trying to find homes for 1,200 animal this summer. The dogs, Bingley, a 4-month-old Husky mix, Lady Jane, a 2 year-old Shepard mix and Gilbert, a 1 year-old chihuahua mix, are all currently available for adoption.

Together we canvassed Tremont Street, Dartmouth Street, Back Bay Station and Clarendon Street with ARL Volunteer & Educational Programs Manager, Deb Vogel, handing out flyers and posters to business owners to hopefully get the word out to potential adopters.

And the day ended with a fantastic surprise: Charlestown editor Becca Manning adopted a 10-week-old kitten!

If you're interested in adopting a pet from the Animal Rescue League, contact the ARL at 617-426-9170.
