The Footlight Club presents Stephen Sondheim's Company

JAMAICA PLAIN – Phone rings, door chimes, in comes ... Company at the Footlight Club from June 6 to June 21.

Company, a musical comedy by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, was originally produced on Broadway in 1970, was nominated for fourteen Tony Awards, and won six. Company examines human interactions and relationships with tenderness, ruthlessness, and humor, and presents a poignant, sophisticated, honest look at marriage and relationships, often with hilarious results.

On his thirty-fifth birthday Robert (Justin Silvestri) begins his journey of examination: of the "good and crazy people" his married friends; of his own relationships with girlfriends; of being alone and loneliness; of reluctance and fear; and of how this pertains to him. As we accompany Robert, we encounter his married friends Harry (resident Scot Colford) and Sarah (Jenn Bubriski); Jenny (Chantel Deane) and David (Tyler Crosby); Susan (Jennifer Lynn McDonald) and Peter (Christoph Stuck-Girard); Joanne (Maria Wardwell) and Larry (David Ieong); and his soon to be married friends Amy (Emma Boroson) and Paul (Jeff Cavaretta); as well as various girlfriends April (Julie D'Alessandro); Marta (Lessie Tyson) and Kathy (Audrey Stuck-Girard).

The fantastic score includes many familiar Sondheim classics, including "Ladies Who Lunch," "Side by Side," "(Not) Getting Married Today," and "Being Alive."

Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. from June 6 to June 21. All performances are at The Footlight Club, Eliot Hall, 7A Eliot Street, Jamaica Plain. Tickets are $25 and available at footlight.org.
