Have Fun Down on the Farm at Franklin Park Zoo!
You don’t have
to leave the city to experience life on the farm! Don’t miss Farm Day at
Franklin Park Zoo on September 15. This year’s theme focuses on pollinators and
highlights the Pollinator Awareness Program at Franklin Park Zoo.
Franklin Park
Zoo’s Franklin Farm is home to an array of fascinating animals including Poitou
donkeys, an extremely rare breed of donkey and the oldest breed of donkey in France, sheep, goats, Guinea hogs, and much more!
Visitors of all ages will also have the opportunity to learn about pollinators
and the role bees play in the ecosystem, as well as the importance of
preserving this important species. Throughout the day, there will be scheduled
zookeeper encounters to learn more about the animals as well as opportunities
to meet with the zoo’s education staff to learn more about pollinators and why
these creatures play such an important role in healthy ecosystems. Special
exhibitors include UMASS Extension and Best Bees.
This year’s
Farm Day is made possible by the generous support of the Krupp Foundation.
