GAS LEAK SAFARI IN JP

BOSTON CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK AND CLEAN WATER ACTION TO LEAD GAS LEAK SAFARI IN JP

There are more than 3,300 natural gas leaks in the City of Boston. The leaked natural gas is expensive for ratepayers who bear the costs and is a more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. It also harms trees and plantings. On Sunday, November 17th, concerned residents will join Boston University scientists, a detection team, and neighborhood leaders from Boston Climate Action Network (BCAN) and Clean Water Action on a gas leak safari to identify some of the biggest leaks in Jamaica Plain. This safari is a great opportunity to see how gas leaks are affecting us at home in JP and to learn about steps we can take to raise awareness and pressure legislators and utilities to address this urgent problem.

WHAT: Gas Leak Safari
WHEN: Sunday, November 17th, 1pm to about 3pm
WHERE: The safari will depart from and return to Bikes Not Bombs in the Brewery Complex in Jamaica Plain (284 Amory Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130; Entrance to Bikes Not Bombs is just beyond and to the left of Ula Café entrance)
CONTACT: Becky Smith, Clean Water Action: bsmith@cleanwater.org; BCAN: BostonClimateAction@gmail.com
NOTE: Participants are encouraged to bring a car if they have space for others to join, or to plan to join a carpool as the group travels via caravan around JP.
