Ellipsis Trio at JPConcerts, Sat. 2/15 @ 4pm

The recipient of the 2013 Rosenbloom Foundation Career Grant, Ellipsis Trio, will be performing Dvorak's Dumky Trio and Ravel's Piano Trio in A minor as part of the JPConcerts Series. Ellipsis performs widely in the New England area and hosts an ongoing series called "The American Experiment" at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology which features all American or American-inspired music.

Pianist Konstantinos Papadakis has been described by the  press as “one of the greatest hopes of music” as well as a “spontaneous, honest artist.” The Boston Globe wrote: "Papadakis gave a stunning performance displaying great variety of attack, poetic lyricism, and wrists of carbon steel.” Mr. Papadakis has performed in recitals and has collaborated with chamber ensembles and orchestras in the world’s major concert halls and famous artistic centers.  He is currently on the faculty of Boston University and New England Conservatory.

Violinist Amanda Wang, is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (S.B.), Boston Conservatory (M.M.), and Boston University (D.M.A.).  Ms. Wang is a first prize recipient of the New England International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition and has performed as guest artist at the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts, Music Festival at Walnut Hill, Chamber Music Foundation of New England, Rockport Music Festival, and Killington Music Festivals.  Her love of science and music has led her to do research in auditory perception as well as the music of Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki.

Patrick Owen
has served as Assistant Principal Cellist for the Charlotte Symphony, Colorado Festival Orchestra, and Boston Philharmonic. He has been a guest artist with the Charlotte Chamber Music Society, Classicopia, Boston Chamber Music Society, and the Duxbury Music Festival. While on faculty at Northeastern University, Mr. Owen worked closely with composer Anthony DeRitis on new music for cello, including Sheng (2011), for cello and electronic media. Mr. Owen studied with Pamela Frame at the Eastman School of Music, Harvey Shapiro and James Kreger at The Juilliard School, with Philippe Muller at the Paris Conservatory, and completed a doctorate in 2007 with Andres Diaz at Boston University.
