Community Corner

Egleston Farmers Market

It is Massachusetts Farmers Market Week (8/19 - 8/25)!  We are in the prime season for a local farm goods celebration with tomatoes and the peak summer harvests coming in.  There is much to thank our vendors for - their dedication to their individual craft, their dedication to their consumers (YOU!), their dedication to helping grow our fledgling market, and their part in making our local economy all the more resilient.

There is plenty to thank you for, too. Each week you come down and support our vendors, you are making the time and effort they put into their product worth it.  You are putting your money where it matters and making a choice to put food in your bodies that you: know the origin of, know the maker, know how fresh it is, and know exactly how it supports and sustains a vibrant small-scale food economy that employs your neighbors and keeps us all healthy and in touch with our food.

Adding to this is your support of the City's most recent initiative to start a  community composting program!  This innovative effort is one that is not only free for you, but makes it ridiculously easy to curtail your waste output while helping to create GOOD soil for the farmers who are bringing you food each week.

Come down to support your farmers and food makers this Saturday and take advantage of a few market steals & deals: hand silk-screened EFM totes priced by the hour and $100/cases of Westport chardonnay (special runs only through Labor Day, so grab them while you can - this wine is usually $18/bottle!).

As always, you can enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee, listen to the great live music, grab your lunch at the food truck and just enjoy living in the neighborhood.  We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
