T Shuts Down D Line Through Wednesday Afternoon, Will Provide Shuttle Buses

Workers will clear storm-related debris from the Green Line branch betweem Kenmore and Riverside stations. Shuttle buses will replace the trolley during the down time.

The T has shut down the Green Line's D service between Kenmore and Riverside stations. The shut down will allow workers to clear the tracks and right of way of any debris from Hurricane Sandy, according to an alert on the T's website.

"Alternate bus service is currently operating on the Green Line D-Branch between Kenmore and Riverside Stations," reads an alert on the MBTA website. "Customers desiring service between Fenway and Reservoir Stations should utilize the C-Branch to Cleveland Circle. For customers desiring D-Branch service beyond Reservoir to Riverside, please board a shuttle bus at Kenmore Station for service to Riverside, which will make all D-Branch stops."

The problem is branches on power lines over the tracks, according to tweets on the official MBTA Twitter account.

Overall, Sandy has caused significant transit delays in Boston. The T was forced to shut down service at 2 p.m. Monday because of the storm, and all four subway lines and several commuter rail lines had significant debris on them. Service was restored on Tuesday.
