JPNC Talks 161 S. Huntington; Concrete Falls at Forest Hills

It was a busy week in the news for Jamaica Plain.

Citizens complained to the city about concrete falling from the ceiling at Forest Hills Station and the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council announced changes to street cleaning the week beginning Monday, Jan. 28 and ending Feb. 1.

Street cleaning changes: On Tuesday, the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council, at its monthly meeting, said most areas with posted street cleaning signs would have its street cleaning day pushed back in 2013.

161 S. Huntington hearing soon: The JPNC also mentioned it expects a court hearing regarding a decision on the development at 161 S. Huntington Ave. in the next few months.

Issues at Forest Hills Station: Despite recent issues, a Massachusetts Department of Transportation official said Thursday Forest Hills Station is in decent shape and will not be significantly upgraded in the near future.

“Mo” Cowan tapped as interim senator: Gov. Deval Patrick Wednesday selected his former chief of staff, William “Mo” Cowan, to serve as interim senator now that John Kerry will take office as secretary of state. Cowan has a tie close to Jamaica Plain.
