Five Things to Know: Post-Sandy Edition

Essential daily information at a glance, including practical information for the day after the hurricane.

1. Forecast: Numerous showers. Highs in the upper 60s. Southeast winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

2. Waking Up to Storm Damage?: If you have flooding, downed trees and branches, call 311 and/or the Mayor's Hotline at 617-635-4500. To report a power outage, contact NSTAR at 800-592-2000 or online.

3. School's Open, T is running: Boston Public Schools are open today and the T has pretty much resumed a normal schedule (except for the commuter rail Providence line). Even so, the T advises you to expect delays here and there Tuesday morning.

4. Share Your Experience: The storm could have been a lot worse for us, but it did have some high-profile effects. For instance, it ripped down a big billboard across from the Forest Hills T. Share photos or video of your experience on this thread.

5. A Political Hurricane for JP: Many readers wrote to me on Monday about a City Council redistricting plan that would divide JP. Here's an informative blog post with the basics, and what to do if you're outraged about it. I hope to post more later on Tuesday. As the storm was revving up, City Councilor Felix Arroyo had teams canvassing the affected precincts, most notably Ward 19, Precinct 7. City Council is facing a tight deadline, with a vote expected Wednesday.
