Sullivan & Worcester Announces 2014 Startup Challenge Winner: Purpose, Inc. Wins a YEAR of Free Legal Services
Sullivan & Worcester has named Purpose, Inc. as the winner of the firm’s 2014 Startup Challenge, which is part of its Startup Series workshops to help new and growing businesses. Purpose will receive free legal representation for one year (up to a maximum of $10,000, subject to certain restrictions).
The contest was open to any entrepreneur who planned to start a business in 2014 or has recently started one and filed organizational documents after January 1, 2013. The company owner must have attended at least two of the Sullivan & Worcester Startup Series workshops that were held from October 2013 – June 2014. Four finalists were selected to pitch their startups to a panel of Sullivan & Worcester judges.
Purpose (www.thepurpose.co) is a web-based platform that creates synergy among merchants, charities and consumers, allowing them to work together for their mutual benefit. The Purpose Network allows consumers to shop at merchants they like and to direct those merchants to donate a portion of qualified purchases to charities that are pre-selected by each consumer. The result is a bustling, game-like ecosystem of commerce, giving and social good. Purpose, led by entrepreneur Ariel Ness, was represented by its counsel, Tal Dibner and by its CTO, Tal Achituv.
