National Braille Press to Honor Jay Hooley with President's Award

Hooley to receive award at Annual “A Million Laughs for Literacy” Gala on November 1, 2013

National Braille Press announced today that Jay HooleyChairman, President and CEO of State Street Corporation, will receive the President’s Award at its 2013 annual “A Million Laughs for Literacy” gala on November 1st at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. 

The President’s Award honors individuals who have shown longstanding support for National Braille Press and its mission to promote literacy for blind children through outreach programs and to provide access to information by producing information in braille for blind children and adults.

"National Braille Press is thrilled to honor Jay Hooley with our President’s Award,” said Brain MacDonald, President of National Braille Press. “Jay has shown immense support for National Braille Press over the years and honoring him gives us the opportunity to show him how much we truly appreciate it.”

The 2013 “A Million Laughs for Literacy” co-chairs are Jayne Donahue, EVP of State Street Bank, Tom Sullivan, Chairman and Founder of Lumber Liquidators, Ward Mooney, CEO  of Crystal Financial and Mike Sheehan, Chairman of Hill Holliday. The program will include a special performance by comedian Paul Reiser who is widely known for his work in TV and film, as well as a live auction to support National Braille Press’s literacy initiative, Hands On! Books for Blind Children.
