The Roslindale Village Main Street Farmers Market is set to return this June, but will be in a new location this season.
This year's market, which opens on Saturday, June 7, will be located in the upper MBTA parking lot of the Roslindale Village Commuter Rail station at the corner of South Conway and Robert Streets in Roslindale. The market will be open from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine, through Nov. 22.
The reason for the move, which is temporary, is due to renovations in Adams Park, where the market is traditionally located, according to a recent announcement by Roslindale Village Main Streets. The market is expected to relocate back to Adams Park in September once renovations are complete.
Free parking will be available at the lower MBTA lot, in the municipal lot off South Street, as well as on-street parking.
Despite the small relocation, the move has provided an opportunity for more vendors this year, as both the parking lot and the soon-to-be-refurbished Adams Park will have more space for vendors than before.
Project Manager Ben Sommer is expecting 40 vendors this year to range from produce farmers to speciality farmers to local food producers, as well as arts and crafts vendors and nonprofits. Below is a list of some of the vendors to be included this year:
- MacArthur Farm
- Allandale Farm
- Brookwood Community Farm
- The Neighborhood Farm
- Two Field Farm
- Apex Orchards
- City Growers
- Mycoterra Farm
- Lilac Hedge Farm
- Wolf Meadow Farm
- Foxboro Cheese
This year will also welcome new partnerships and more diverse children's activities, including appearances by Davey the Clown and a petting zoo, as well as Playworks, a group that helps children integrate play with teamwork. Music will also be performed at the market, according to RVMS.
