NSTAR: Failed Cable Caused Centre Street Outage

Power should be restored to Jamaica Plain sometime Thursday afternoon.

A power outage that affected nearly 2,000 people in Jamaica Plain at its peak, according to some reports, was caused by a faulty cable under Centre Street.

NSTAR spokesman Mike Durand told Jamaica Plain Patch "a section of underground cable near centre street failed."

Durand added that about 250 people in Jamaica Plain were without power through the 3 o'clock hour, but their power would be restored shortly.

City Councilor Matt O'Malley said via Twitter NStar told him a transformer near the Curley School failed.
