New Liquor Store ‘Cork’ Proposed for Centre

An ownership group is proposing to open a new liquor store in Jamaica Plain.
The Jamaica Plain public service committee, which meets Tuesday night, was going to discuss a petition for a new liquor store, “Cork,” to be proposed for 626 Centre St at its meeting, but the item has since been removed from the agenda.
The Jamaica Pond Association voted down the proposal because a building that would hold the liquor store has yet to be built.

According to the initial public service committee agenda item: The retail package store owners are seeking a license to sell all alcoholic beverages and keep hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to a committee email. Arnaldo Baez would be the manager.
The address’ former proprietor was St. John’s Service Center gas station.

The committee will meet at 7 p.m. at Curtis Hall.
