JP Health Center To Use $50K Grant for Senior Citizen Health

The money will go toward the Nuestra Generación ("Our Generation") program to benefit low-income, at-risk seniors.

A Jamaica Plain health center will be able to launch a program to benefit low-income, at-risk senior citizens through a Tufts Health Plan Foundation grant.

Brigham & Women’s Hospital received $49,878 of the grant, which will be used for the hospital’s Nuestra Generación (“Our Generation”) program, taking place at Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center, according to a press statement.

The program, designed to improve the physical and emotional health of low-income, at risk seniors, will help older adults access food stamps and Meals on Wheels; participate in activities such as weekly yoga and workout classes; receive health education tools to manage their chronic diseases; and engage in weekly support groups, the statement said.
