Jamaica Plain Burger Bar Grass Fed Adds Takeout to the Menu

The popular burger bar on Centre Street began offering takeout on Wednesday.

You can get your poutine to go, now that is offering takeout.

The popular burger bar on Centre Street started doing takeout on Wednesday. And business (which was already good) has really ramped up.

"Business has doubled," said kitchen manager Colin Adair.

People can call in their orders ahead of time, but the orders of customers who show up in person take precedence.

The addition of take-out isn't the only good news from the former Bon Savor space: Grass Fed won "Best Neighborhood Restaurant for JP" in this year's Boston Magazine Best of Boston Awards.

The restaurant is nominated for "" in the JP Patch "Readers' Choice contest. Voting runs through Aug. 17.

It "feels" like you are advertising for the Grass Fed restaurant, when you post a change about their menu/schedule/etc. Unless, of course, you are going to be posting daily/weekly changes for every restaurant in JP. Grass Fed has the newest burgers in town, but it doesn't have the best burgers in town.

You make a good point, MMRosenthal. I did consider not posting this for that reason. It seemed like a big enough change that it warranted a post given the high interest in this new restaurant. Any other JP restaurants making big changes, lemme know!

Given the fact that most Jamaica Plainers (Jamaica Plainians? Jamaica Plainees? Jamaica Plaintiffs?) thought it was odd and kind of elitist, if not bordering on absurd that a self-described Burger Joint opted to eschew the Takeaway option, I think the restaurant's decision to finally incorporate a Takeout Menu is indeed newsworthy for a local/neighborhood news source.

Sit down and take out are two different licenses and since there wasn't take out at this location before, Grass Fed had to get a license to offer it. That was the only reason for the delay. Nothing odd or elitist about it!

Most JPers thought this? You have got to be kidding me. Most JPers couldn't possibly have cared or noticed. But since you brought it up, from its opening Grassfed had been telling anyone who asked that they were trying hard to get a takeaway license and that their application was being held up. Now they have it months after they applied for it. "Odd and kind of elitist." Wow.
