The Blessed Sacrament Church in Jamaica Plain has been sold to the youth development nonprofit Hyde Square Task Force, the Jamaica Plain News reported this week

While the sale was originally announced last summer, a delay occurred between the signing of the purchase-and-sale agreement and the closing, which occurred last Friday, according to the JP News.

The use of the Centre Street campus has been up for debate for some time; in 2005, the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation and the New Atlantic Development Corporation buying the 3.2 campus from the Archdiocese, according to the JP News.

Since that sale, portions of the site have undergone redevelopment, and now it houses 83 homes for low-income families and those who were previously homeless, according to the report.
