Fast Food Workers to Stage Protest Near JP

Workers at fast food chains around the United States want better pay and benefits.

A fast food strike that sweeping the country has made its way to the outskirts of Jamaica Plain.

Fast food workers at the Legion Shopping Center in Roslindale near the JP border at Forest Hills will walk off their jobs this morning between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m., according to a press statement from SEIU Local 509.

Protesters are calling for an increase of wages to $15 per hour and the right to form a union without retaliation, the statement says.

Workers will strike at locations around Boston Aug. 29 and in 50 cities across the country.
