JP Artist Paints Pianos for the Public

One of Natalia Chilcote's pianos will be placed somewhere in Boston as part of this late September event.

If you happen to see a piano in a public place at the end of September, there’s no need to call the city’s waste management. They’re there on purpose, and one JP artist is contributing her work to the artistic endeavor.

Natalia Chilcote is painting a piano as part of Street Pianos Boston an art installation based on “Play Me, I’m Yours,” which involves brightly colored pianos placed outdoors in various cities.

This year, the celebration coincides with the Celebrity Series of Boston’s 75th anniversary.

Chilcote, who is painting a puzzle piece theme on her piano, is originally from Mexico and strongly believes in community art.

The pianos will be viewable – and playable – Sept. 27 to Oct. 14.
