Boston Tartan Week at The Haven April 5th- 10th
Not letting our southern neighbors have all the fun, The Haven is setting up a week of Scottish cultural events to rival New York's Tartan week!To help celebrate the week we have a beer launch, a film festival, music residency, art show and Scottish olympics!
DRINKTHE HIGH ROAD - Tuesday April 5thThe Haven launches it's very own Scottish Ale. The High Road. A classic 70 shilling style special ale. Brewed in Maine with Notch brewer Chris Lohring at Shipyard Brewery. It evokes the ales that were prevalent at the turn of the century. We tap our first keg on Tuesday April 5th with a special Beer dinner at 7pm with Dr No at 9.pm!
MUSICTo celebrate The Haven being granted a music license we proudly announce two residencies kicking off in the month of April, during Tartan Week:Weds April 6thEvery Wednesday the Postcard sessions. Ex- Points North guru Chris North spearheads a JP Alt/folk night.Shows start at 9pm.Thursday April 7th Haley Jane and the Primates play every Thursday in April. Fresh from last years sell out 'Sleep No More' show Haley is now performing with her own band. The primates take on The Jesus and Marychain's "Stoned and Dethroned".
KILT NIGHT - Friday April 8thJoin in the fun by wearing plaid and receive a free deep fried mars bar courtesy of The Haven. 
SPORTScottish Olympics - Saturday April 9thCome join the fun. Watch the Scotland vs England Haggis hurling competition on Saturday afternoon. The back of Hi-Lo/Whole foods is transformed into a Glen with a piper and Haggis hurling. 2pm.
ART"Haggis"Art Show - Sunday April 10thLocal artist Brendan Killian has been commissioned by The Haven for his upcoming exhibition. Drawing inspiration from his love of Scotland and sheep in particular. "HAGGIS" tells the story of Scotland's love affair with lamb. 
FILMThroughout the week we will be celebrating Scotland's contribution to the film world by screening some of Sean Connery's classic James Bond movies. 9pm-Free.tues -Dr Noweds - Thunderballthurs - Never Say Never Againfri - From Russia With Lovesat - Diamonds Are Foreversun - Highlander
FoodChef Wax will be mixing his rich pedigree of culinary wizardry with a Scottish take on things. Come and try the Haven Burger, Haggis and Deep fried Mars Bar.
"I feel the time is ripe for Boston to embrace it's inner Scottishness and this week will help do that" Jason Waddleton, The Haven chief.
Tartan Day is a celebration of Scottish heritage on April 6, the date on which the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320. In 1998, a Coalition of Scottish Americans successfully lobbied the Senate for the designation of April 6 as National Tartan Day "to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States".
