Wind Advisory in Jamaica Plain Area Through Friday Evening

Be careful out on the roads today.

By Joseph Markman

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service throughout southern New England, including Jamaica Plain.

Sustained winds are expected through Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the range of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour. A powerful early season storm in southeastern Canada is producing the winds, the NWS reports.

"A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE31 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 46 AND 57 MPH. WINDS THIS STRONG ARE CAPABLE OF DOWNING SMALL TREE LIMBS AND BRANCHES...POSSIBLY CAUSING ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DRIVING CAN ALSO BE DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES."
