Weekend Planner: Free Beer, A Summer Show, A Solemn Ceremony and More

It's Thursday again, and if you've still got no idea what to do this weekend, our Thursday feature, "Get Out" has ideas for stuff to do and places to go.

Why go:  Do you need a better reason than free beer?  This evening Burke Distributors will be at with free tastings of their beers including Sam Adams, Wolaver's Organic Ales, Narragansett Lager, and Ipswich Ale.

Where: 284 Amory Street (The Brewery Complex))

When:  Friday, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Price:  Free

Why go:  If you haven’t yet been to one of Urbano’s events or their inspiring space at the Brewery, prepare yourself for an exciting evening of socially engaged art and performances.  Tonight’s show features work by 29 teens who took part in Urbano Project's artists' workshops this summer.

Why go:  Today the Jamaica Plain Historical Society will lead you on a guided tour of one of JP’s most precious natural resources.  Learn about the talented individuals who have lived along its shores, the ice industry that flourished there, and how landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted created the parkland that we all enjoy today.

4. JP Post Office Dedication

Where: , 633 Centre Street

When:  Sunday, 2 p.m.

Price:  Free

Why go:  The will be dedicated today in honor of Marine Lance Corporal Alexander Scott Arredondo who was killed by a sniper in Iraq in 2004.

When:  Sunday, 7 p.m.

Price:  $10, Buy Tickets

Why go:  The exquisite is always a lovely setting for one of their quality concerts.  Tonight there will be a special outdoor performance at the historic B&B by the acclaimed Triton Brass Quintet.
