The MBTA Has a New Twitter Handle
Already following the MBTA on Twitter? No worries, you don't have to change a thing!
This week the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is transitioning its Twitter account from @mbtaGM to @MBTA. But if you're already following the old handle, you don’t have to do anything as the name it expected to switch over itself.
“Social media is one of the most important tools we use to communicate directly with those who rely on the T,” said MBTA General Manager Dr. Beverly Scott in a press release. “Simplifying our online identity will help us deliver service alerts and other important information to even more customers.”
The MBTA has more than 45,000 followers on its Twitter account and uses the account to keep followers up to date on service alerts, news and events impacting the states commuters.
