Severe Thunderstorms Expected Late Thursday

Storms could bring damaging winds, hail and localized flooding

Severe thunderstorms are coming through Suffolk County Thursday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to increase throughout the afternoon across interior southern New England. A few of these storms are expected to be severe.

The best chance of this weather pattern is currently expected to be between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. and could produce strong to damaging wind gusts and hail.

Heavy rain with the stronger storms could produce localized flooding in areas with poor drainage.

The good news is drier, cooler air will move into the area once the storms pass.
