Part of Memorial Drive to Close Overnight Monday through Friday

The westbound side of the road will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. each night this week.

Memorial Drive westbound under the Longfellow Bridge will be closed overnight on Monday, Feb. 24 through Friday, Feb. 28, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced.

A single lane closure will be implemented beginning at 9 p.m. each night this week, with the full closure taking place at 11 p.m. The road will reopen at 5 a.m. each morning.

The closure is meant to assist MassDOT with the ongoing Longfellow Bridge Rehabilitation project, and is necessary for demolition activity accommodations.

As a result of the closure, vehicular traffic will be detoured using alternate routes on Land Boulevard to Binney Street and Third Street or the ramp from Land Boulevard to Main Street, according to MassDOT. Cyclists and pedestrians will be diverted to the eastbound side of Memorial Derive to pass under the bridge.

More information on the project can be found at mass.gov/massdot/longfellowbridge. For questions or to report issues related to construction, contact the project hotline at 617-519-9892 or email longfellowbridge@state.ma.us.
