Mayor Walsh to Open $17M Learning Lab at Bromley-Heath in Jamaica Plain

The effort is part of a collaboration with the Boston Housing Authority and Nurtury.

Boston Mayor Marin Walsh plans to open a new $17 million learning center on Monday at the Bromley-Heath development in Jamaica Plain, officials announced Friday.

The new Nurtury Learning Lab is essentially a learning center offering more than 20,000 square feet of classroom space and 14,000 square feet of outdoor learning and play areas. 

The effort is part of a collaboration with the Boston Housing Authority and Nurtury; the new center aims to feature a community-based lab school for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as after-school program, officials said.

The lab also aims to be a resource for the community an doffer high-quality education and care, as well as family support services, professional development, adult education programs, health and wellness programs and community cooking and nutrition classes, among others, officials said. 

The lab will be located at 33 Bickford St. in Jamaica Plain.
