Jamaica Plain Musicians to Perform at MLK Day Celebration

The Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra will participate in the Martin Luther King Day event in Boston Monday.

There are several events happening in Boston, Monday, as part of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

A tribute to King presented by Mayor Marty Walsh will take place at Faneuil Hall at 1 p.m. The event will feature spoken word and music.

Several Jamaica Plain students will perform with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras' Intensive Community Program at the Day of Service and Celebration

The young musicians include Jazmyn Nam-Krane, Double Bass, 13; Lenora Davis, Cello, 13; Roger Cawdette, Viola, 13; Emmalee Manigat, Violin, 11; Sebastian D'Amico, Cello, 17; and Alexandra D'Amico, Viola, 16.

Civil rights filmmaker Judy Richardson will deliver the keynote address at the Faneuil Hall celebration.
