The KidsArts! program launched in the late 1980s and was born in the old fire house that now serves as JP Licks. For several years, the building was home to the JP Multicultural Arts Center and featured ballet dancers, samba drummers, photographers, jazz musicians and artistic youths of all ages.

KidsArts! took over the building when the center closed in 1993, and has since served several generations of children, staff and directors.
