Boston Hosts 'Never Forget Newtown' Vigil on Saturday

The vigil begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at a Back Bay church.

Saturday marks a year since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. 

The Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence plans a vigil at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church Boston in the Back Bay. The theme is "Never Forget Newtown." The anti-violence group says there have been 26 shootings in schools since Newtown.

Scheduled speakers include U.S. Congressman John Tierney, D-Sixth, and Boston Mayor Elect Marty Walsh. Family members of people killed in gun violence will also participate.

Where and When: 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church Boston, 66 Marlborough St., Boston. Before the event, at 1:30 p.m., there will be a march from the bandstand on the Common to the church.
