Boston Declares State of Emergency Thursday, Schools Closed Friday

Boston has declared a state of emergency starting noon Thursday. Schools will remain closed Friday, extending students' winter vacation by a day.

During a snow emergency, parking is barred on several city streets. You can park your car at a discount at several lots, provided you have a resident sticker.  Click here to see the city's map of parking restrictions and available alternate parking

Even on streets where parking is allowed, watch where you park. You cannot park within 20 feet of an intersection or more than a foot from the curb, according to the city.

City offices will be open Thursday, and trash collection will continue as specified in the city's New Year's week collection schedule
