Added Trains, Special Fares Available for Trip to Rolling Rally

Addition commuter rail trains – some of the them leaving as early as 6 a.m. – will take Red Sox fans into Boston on Saturday for the“rolling rally” to celebrate the team’s World Series win.

Changes are planned all across the MBTA system on Saturday to accommodate Sox fans, including additional subway and bus service.

“Please expect variations in scheduled times due to increased ridership and allow extra time for your trip,” the T said in announcing the special schedule. “The MBTA strongly urges parade-goers to take advantage of the earliest trains to avoid very heavy volume on subsequent trains.”

The rolling rally is planned to kickoff at 10 a.m. from Fenway Park.

On the North Shore, additional pre-rally inbound trains have been scheduled and “capacity is being significantly increased,” according to the T. The special, additional trains leave Rockport at 6 a.m., 7 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. and leave from Newburyport at 6:15 a.m., 7:15 a.m. and 8:48 a.m.

Other specially scheduled inbound commuter rail trains for the rolling rally will leave terminus stations as follows:

Haverhill: 6 a.m., 7:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.

Lowell: 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Wilmington: 7:45 a.m.

Fitchburg: 6 a.m., 6:50 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.

South Acton: 8:50 a.m.

Worcester: 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Franklin/Forge Park: 6:35 a.m. and 8:35 a.m.

Providence: 6:35 a.m. and 8:35 a.m.

Middleboro/Lakeville: 6:50 a.m. and 8:22 a.m.

All commuter rail lines will return to their regular Saturday schedule at about 4 p.m.

All trains will make all stops along the way on all of the trips, according to the T.

Five commuter rail lines do not regularly run on Saturday and those lines will also not operate this Saturday. The lines that will not run are Fairmount, Greenbush, Kingston, Needham and Stoughton.

Commuter rail riders can buy a special $10 roundtrip fare electronically from the T’s mTicket app at www.mbta.com/mticketstarting on Friday at 1 p.m.

For subway riders, the red, orange, blue and green Lines will all operate on an “enhanced Saturday schedule” with rush hour levels of service starting at 7 a.m. There has been service interruptions scheduled for the red line between Kendall/MIT and Park Street stations this weekend That has been cancelled.

Buses will run on a Saturday schedule with increased service on routes 39, 57, 111, 504 and 442. Express buses will run from Riverside to Kenmore Square starting at 7 a.m.

The rolling rally will cause routes 01, 08, SL5, 92, 93, 57 and 65 to be diverted.
