5 Things You Need to Know: Power Outage Darkens JP

Remember: Report your power outage.

1. Power Outage: About 2,000 JP residents were without power yesterday afternoon. If you're outages continue you can call NSTAR at 800-592-2000 and Tweet @NotifyBoston.

2. Heatwave: The heat may not necessarily be contributing to the outages, but it's been all the more unbearable when those window air conditioners are no longer powered.

3. Eliot School on Parade: You may see students from the Eliot School summer program parading around pondside with animal masks Friday morning.

4. Boston Strangler: Last week, city officials said they'd be scientifically certain that Albert DeSalvo was responsible for the 1964 murder of Mary Sullivan, the final in a series of killings by the "Boston Strangler," by the end of this week. Stay tuned for that declaration.

5. Events by the Pond: There are two taking place Friday night.
