Vigil Held for Fallen Soldier's Brother

Brian Arredondo, younger brother of the man for whom the JP Post Office is named, had committed suicide.

Brian Arredondo, the younger brother of Lance Corporal Alex Arredondo, , was remembered Tuesday night with a candlelight vigil.

Brian Arredondo, the family said, committed suicide. The Arredondo family is well known in JP. The vigil commemorated all victims of suicide.

Alex Arredondo died fighting in Iraq. His father and step mother have been outspoken anti-war voices.

In a Facebook message, Brian Arredondo's stepmother said he never recovered from the loss of his older brother.

The vigil took place at Camp Alex, a temporary camp at .

The family will hold the wake for Brian Arredondo at , 44 Perkins St. Calling hours are 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27

The funeral Mass will be held at , 97 South St., at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28. The funeral mass will be followed by a procession and internment at Rural Cemetery at the intersection of Pemberton and North Street, in Walpole. Brian Arredondo will be laid to rest next to his brother Alexader Arredondo.
